Page 1: Participant Information

Before you decide whether you wish to participate, it is important that you first read the the following participant information.

My name is Dr. Toby Ellmers and I am a researcher at Brunel University London.

The purpose of the research project is to explore the prevalence – as well as the effects – of directing too much attention towards monitoring our balance (ie, ‘hypervigilant’ monitoring of balance). From these results, we will develop new assessment methods which researchers and clinicians can use to examine the extent to which individuals excessively monitor their balance.

As long as you are aged 40 or above, you are eligible to participate.

The questionnaires will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete and all information provided will remain confidential. This study has been approved by the College of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences Research Ethics Committee (August 2020), and the study will run until 31/12/2021.

If you have any questions regarding the study please contact Dr. Toby Ellmers (Principal Investigator) at toby.ellmers@brunel.ac.uk
